Participant Profile

The Freight Academy is designed for mid-level freight professionals in the public sector whose existing or future responsibilities include freight-related planning and decision-making. Academy alumni represent positions in operations, policy, planning, government affairs, etc.

Note: Participation is not limited to those within the Coalition states. Participants have represented states and transportation organizations within the Coalition region, as well as other states, regions, and provinces in Canada. Participants from all geographic regions are encouraged to apply.

Participant Expectations

The Freight Academy is an intense and fast-paced week which includes both engaging classroom presentations and discussions, and on the ground site visits.

All participants will be fully immersed in the Freight Academy program throughout the entire days and early evenings of the Freight Academy week.

To successfully complete the program, participants must:

  • Commit to attend the entire immersion week program;
  • Successfully complete all preliminary self-study material, including as may be deemed applicable, including the FHWA course (details here); and
  • Participate fully in the Capstone project, including having an active role in the completion and presentation of the final project at the Capstone Project Mentor Panel Webinar.

Recognition

Upon successful completion of the program, participants will receive:

  • AICP Certificate Maintenance Credits for eligible participants
  • A certificate of completion
  • Continuing Education Units (CEUs) if requested
